(Middlebourne, WV) Officials from the Tyler County Speedway and organizations involved in the MEGA 100 have come to the agreement that mother nature will win this round of the 4th Annual “MEGA 100” but won’t win the war. With Tropical Storm Alberto set to dump inches of rain followed by the threat of severe storms throughout the weekend, really no choice was left which lead all parties agreeing Wednesday that a complete reschedule of the event was the only option. Now rescheduled for June 28th – 30th at the ¼ mile “Bullring”.

For the Open Wheel Modified portion of the event, America’s Baddest Bullring is revamping the weekend schedule, just a little, to make the weekend even more “MEGA” for it’s fans and teams. The 7th Annual “Let It Ride 55” which was re-scheduled for June 30th after a May rain out will now roll off on Friday night, June 29th as part of the 4th “MEGA 100 Weekend”. The news now combines the two biggest modified events on the East Coast into one “MEGA” weekend you won’t want to miss!

Friday nights “LET IT RIDE 55” will feature a complete show, $3,055 to win, $255 to start main event for the AMS/RoDT Modifieds. Utilizing AMS/UMP rules. Always one of the most prestigious modified events in the Ohio Valley the past winners list includes a who’s who and will make the 2018 version of the MEGA 100 that much more special to modified racers with the ultra cool ‘slot machine trophy’ also on the line. A $555 to win Dickson Racing Shocks “Non-Qualifiers Race” will also be added to the evenings schedule to still give racers a ‘two feature’ show on Friday night.

In addition, the $15,000 to win “MEGA 100” will now be a complete show as well on Saturday June 30th. The MEGA purse tweaked ever so slightly still paying a record shattering $15,000 to win while racers will earn a solid $500 just to start the event to boast an incredible $40,000+ ONE day purse! A $1,000 to win Adrenaline Performance Fuel “Non-Qualifiers Race” will also be run on Saturday to give yet another opportunity for racers to participate in a feature event during the weekend. Saturday’s purse combined with the increased Friday purse sets up the biggest modified weekend ever in the Eastern United States and gives racers a shot at not only over $65,000 in prize money but two of the most lucrative winners titles/trophies in all of modified racing.

On Thursday the Summit Racing Equipment “Sanction Shootout” is still on the docket awarding ten invited drivers from each of the organizations involved to participate in a $1,000 to win / $100 to start event that will utilize pill draw heat races and a 20 lap feature event. A ‘MEGA’ provisional is also on the line. Open practice remains on the card for any driver outside of the invited drivers who are looking to turn some laps before the weekends events.

Additionally, track officials are excited to add a $600 to win / $60 to start “Contenders Race” to Thursdays card. The Octane Race Products “Contenders Race” will be made up of any modified/sport mod racer who has never won a Late Model, Steel Block Late Model, or Modified A-Main at any track throughout the country. The event will be run with pill draw heat races and a 20 lap feature with the winner also earning a guaranteed starting spot in the “Let It Ride 55”. Drivers should submit their intentions to run this event in advance so that officials can check the entries to ensure that no LM/Mod features have been won. Thursdays ‘Contenders Race’ ONLY will be a 100% open tire rule in an effort for anyone who wants to be part of the MEGA weekend to come participate in this event. All other events including the ‘Sanction Shootout’ will be run under complete UMP rules.

Finally, saving the biggest news for last, Tyler County Speedway is excited to partner with Cody Sommer of Mansfield Motor Speedway to bolster the entire weekend even larger. Mansfield Motor Speedway is slated to pay a cool $5,000 to win on Sunday July 1st for the AMS sanctioned UMP Modified portion of the “Freedom 50”. With the “MEGA 100” reschedule date on the same weekend, officials from both parties are happy to work together on what will now showcase a “Triple Header Weekend” in the Ohio Valley area. On Friday the $3,055 to win “Let It Ride 55”, on Saturday the $15,000 to win “MEGA 100” and on Sunday the $5,000 to win “Freedom 30” for Dirt Modifieds will make it easily the biggest modified weekend ever in the Eastern U.S.

Additionally, officials have partnered to establish a “Gold & Gray Bonus” that will include a $2,000 bonus for a driver who can win any two nights or a $5,000 bonus to any driver who can ‘sweep the weekend’ by winning all three shows. The culmination could lead to one modified team taking home an Eastern U.S. unheard of sum of $28,000 dollars!

A lot of money is on the line three straight nights June 29th – July 1st for the ultimate modified drivers dream weekend. When the weekend rolls around, race fans can rest assured that the MEGA 100 and now “Gold & Gray Bonus” will attract teams from throughout the entire country with dozens of MEGA entries already in its anyone’s guess who will be next.
